What I Have Learnt....

For the front cover:
~The layout and visual style has to be edgy and rocky with a simple layout so people can easily see what they are getting in the magazine.
~The colours have to be dark to represent rock music, more mature looking and powerful, they would suit rock music.
~The main picture has to be of someone who is well known and in the rock genre of music as I am basing the magazine on that genre.
~Most of the magazine I looked at had mid-shots of the artist or band with their instruments so I would have to include something that reflects them too.
~Captions aren’t as in your face as pop magazines would be, they are mellow and easy to read so I will make my captions around the colours using the picture as the background not adding any colour behind it.
~The main title has to stand out the most and I will make sure it is of a colour that stands out against the dark colours I will use for captions and pictures. It will be big and bold.
~I will put in the captions jokey/informal quotes and info. Some of the magazines had taboo in the captions; this represents rock music being rough so I will need to include a quote that mentions something bad. (E.g. being involved with drugs).
~Most of the music magazines that I analysed did not have slogans. This was because the title was powerful and said it all.
~On the front cover I will include some pugs that relate to freebies with the magazine and dates and pricing.

The contents page:
~I will use a range of different contents and pictures to offer the audience, like different features like: interviews, reviews and music info.
~To put pictures by the text that relate to it.
~I will set the information in numbers relating to the page number that it is on.
~I will use formal language but again use slang in the quotes to make it more interesting or amusing.

The double page spread:
~To aim my magazine at young adults/teenagers.
~The house style doesn’t have to be used in the double page spread as most of the magazines I analysed didn’t, but I will put the logo of the magazine in the page corner or at the end of the text.
~I’m going to make sure the text is cohesive by using 3 columns.
~In all of the magazines I analysed there are quotes pulled from the text which are usually eye catching or have taboo language because of this genre of music so I will put one or two in.
~Make sure the information inside the magazine is both up to date and general music. Also to include album reviews as these all came out top and equal in my questionnaire. The information ~I will include has to be both up to date and general music information because this came out top in my questionnaire.
~The language that is used in the magazines analysed are informative and formal. However when there are quotes or interviews when the person is replying there is taboo or slang words. I will make sure this happens in my magazine too.
~Pictures are used more than writing and most magazines include a whole page picture. So I will include a whole page picture and pictures relating to the text, this also came out top in the questionnaire.
